Voiceover Narration Assignment
My most recent voice narration job offer came from author James Nugent of Eld Inlet Services. When I read the title of the manuscript, "The Catholic Way of Dying," I immediately felt honored to be offered an assignment that covered a very sensitive topic… death.

I humbly accepted the assignment. The author gave very few directions. In fact, his primary direction was, “Pray!” Well, that was an easy order because I always pray before starting an assignment, especially an assignment as precious as this one. The other direction the author gave me was, “Just be you.”

I read through the manuscript three times to get a feel for the proper delivery. A topic such as this deserves almost perfection in tempo, pitch, and inflections in order to deliver the message correctly.

After reading the manuscript, I was left with a feeling of contentment about the subject of dying. The fear of dying went away. In fact, living with the thought of death being a part of life encouraged me to live a good life now; to enjoy life to the fullest; to live in the moment; to enjoy every thing and everyone in my life. This audiobook is, in a way, a gift of life.

The Catholic Way of Dying
We all die. It is a fact of life. In living a good life, we need to also plan and be prepared for what happens when we die. Catholics have a unique way of looking at death and living with death.

Everyone dies at one point or another. No one escapes death. The audiobook, The Catholic Way of Dying, was narrated and produced to help everyone understand how to live life without the fear of dying.

Publisher’s Summary
For modern culture that does not highly value life, it is paradoxical that we don’t want to talk about the dying process or the possibility of an afterlife. Catholics sometimes suffer from the same hesitation about talking about death. Yet the Roman Catholic religion and culture are constant preparation for that moment when we must trust Jesus for our salvation. All the rituals and sacraments, prepare our minds and hearts for that thing from which there is no escape. --James Nugent, Author

Happy! My Publisher Says Yes… Again

Honestly, it might be too much to write yet another post about how my publisher is publishing another audiobook narrated and produced by me. And, it could be boring to read that James Nugent is the author of yet another book about being a Catholic. But… well… while you might be yawning, I’m jumping up and down with pure joy. It’s another feather in my cap and it’s another statement that says, “Marlene, you have what it takes to be a narrator and producer in the audiobook world.” It’s also the promise of another paycheck.

I’ll keep this short, because I’m working on another project of which I’ll probably be bragging about next month.

The title of this most recent audiobook is “Catholic, Politically Incorrect and Moral.” Notice the title and realize that this is a story about being Catholic, while at the same time having beliefs that our society would consider politically incorrect. Naturally, being Catholic it is a given that you would be considered moral. But, nothing guarantees that you will be politically correct. When Mr. Nugent commissioned me to narrate this audiobook, he requested that I read it very slowly. Read slowly, this audiobook forces the listener to take in every single word. It is thought provoking and I can assure you that if you listen to this audiobook, you WILL walk away with a profound level of thinking about what it is like to be Catholic with morals that don’t necessarily fit in with many people of the entire world.

Narrating and editing this audiobook for publication was a joy for me. I learned a lot about what it is like to be a politically incorrect Catholic person. I highly recommend this audiobook for anyone wanting to learn more about this religion or what it is like to be firm in your commitment to any religion, no matter which religion you practice.

The audiobook is available right now on Audible Books and soon to be released on Amazon and iTunes. Download your copy of Catholic, Politically Incorrect and Moral from Audible Books today!

Review More Good News About Being Catholic

While growing up Catholic in my youth, I drifted away from the church, because of the constant bombardment of verbal rants of going to hell fire if you commit a sin to the point of burning for minor sins. It has been proven that a constant barrage of and dogma, humans tend to tune out everything you have to say. I believe in God and his son Jesus, just not the way it was presented. Remember that Jesus was sent because God did not like the way the Jewish leaders were crushing the people under so many rules and regulations and sent his Son to lead people on the path to salvation.

It was not for years later that I found a church that taught a loving God and his son Jesus about saving us from sin.  The one thing that was missing was the confession of sin as it says in the bible. Confession and forgiveness is very important in our role with God and it is just as important as our forgiveness with others.

In James 5:16 (NIV): Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

The Catholic Church provides that sacrament of Reconciliation with God through the confessional. That time allows us to confess the things we have done or failed to do. The priest would than assign the number and types of prayers to say later in a quiet time and then they pray over you. It was amazing sometimes how the weight of the burden was lifted from your shoulders. I call it the clearing calming of your soul.

James Nugent’s audiobook, narrated by Marlene C. Bertrand, is very thought provoking and brought me to a deeper understanding of Confession. I recommend it to all Christians.
